8. Replacement of Mechanical Parts

WARNING

  • To avoid serious injury, before replacement or adjustment of any parts, stop the machine and set the circuit breaker to OFF and disconnect the attachment plug. (Refer to 2.5 “Power Supply”)

WARNING

  • When replacing the cutter assemblies and blades for disk cutter, be careful not to touch the cutting edge.
  • Improper handling of cutter blades may cause serious injury.

CAUTION

  • Carefully handle the cutter and blades. If they are cracked or chipped, a chip may become mixed in the processed food and cause injury.
  • Never use a cracked or chipped cutter.

8.1 Replacement of Timing Belt

※ Never insert your hand in the machine during operations. You may be seriously injured.

  • ① Remove the motor box cover.
  • ② Remove the motor mounting bolts and move the motor in a direction that allows the timing belt to loosen.
  • ③ Loosen the setscrew of the motor pulley and detach the timing belt together with the motor pulley from the motor drive shaft.
  • ④ Detach the timing belt from the pulley.
  • ⑤ Install a new timing belt in reverse order to the above steps.

8.2 Replacement of 25T Gear of Lower Conveyor Drive

  • ① Remove the gear cover. (Refer to 3.7.3)
  • ② Remove the bolt (a), special clip plate (b), and 25T gears (c) and (d).
  • ③ Install new 25T gears in reverse order to the above steps.

NOTE

  • Be careful not to drop the keys from the lower drive roller and drive shaft.

8.3 Replacement of Cutter Spindle Box

※ Never insert your hand in the machine during operations. You may be seriously injured.

  • ① Remove the top cover and open the hood disk. (Refer to 3.7.4)
  • ② Remove the front spindle cover holding screw, and detach the cover.
  • ③ Remove the timing belt. (Refer to 8.1)
  • ④ Remove the cutter spindle box mounting bolts and lift up the spindle box to remove it. Be careful not to drop the positioning parallel pins.
  • ⑤ Install a new spindle box in reverse order to the above steps.

8.4 Replacement of Chain

※ Never insert your hand in the machine during operations. You may be seriously injured.

  • ① Move the chain joint portion to the upper accessible portion of the chain sprocket on the universal joint side. If the chain’s joint portion is not located there, rotate the roller of the upper conveyor by hand to move it.
  • ② Remove the clip and joint at the chain’s joint portion and detach the chain.
  • ③ Install a new chain in reverse order to the above steps.
  • ④ Apply grease to the new chain.

8.5 Replacement of Chain Sprocket (20T)

※ Never insert your hand in the machine during operations. You may be seriously injured.

  • ① Remove the top cover, chain and the upper conveyor. (Refer to 8.3①, 8.4, and 4.1.2⑧)  
  • ② Loosen the setscrews that hold the universal joint and the geared motor shaft, and detach the universal joint and the sprocket from the geared motor shaft.  
  • ③ Loosen the setscrews that hold the sprocket and the universal joint to remove the sprocket.  
  • ④ When installing a new sprocket (20T), follow the above steps in reverse order.

NOTE

  • For removing the upper conveyor, refer to 4.1.2 “ Detachment and Attachment of Upper Conveyor Belt.” Remove the side plate (left). In the step ⑧, detach the upper conveyor by pulling it toward you. When installing it, be sure to check the engagement between the upper conveyor and universal joint.
  • You need not remove the belt.

8.6 Replacement of Chain Sprocket (18T)

  • ① Remove the top cover, front spindle cover and chain. (Refer to 8.3 ① and ②, and 8.4)
  • ② Remove the side cover mounting screw, and detach the side cover.
  • ③ Remove the hexagon bolts (M8) that hold the drive shaft and then remove the special clip plate and washer (OILLESS).
    ※ Never insert your hand in the machine during operations. You may be seriously injured.
  • ④ Loosen the 18T sprocket setscrew.
  • ⑤ Pull out the drive shaft toward the conveyor side, and remove the 18T sprocket.
  • ⑥ Install a new sprocket in the reverse order to the above steps.

8.7 Replacement of Geared Motor

※ Never insert your hand in the machine during operations. You may be seriously injured.

  • ①Remove the top cover, chain, 20T sprocket and universal joint. (Refer to 8.3①, 8.4 and 8.5)
  • ② Remove the mounting bolt.
  • ③ Lift up the geared motor and remove it.
  • ④ Install a new geared motor in the reverse order to the above steps.

8.8 Adjustment of Mouth Frame

  • ① Open the hood disk (refer to 3.7.4), and remove the special bolt (a) and the upper conveyor cover (b).
  • ② Slightly loosen the special nut (c) and the hexagon cap nut (d), and close the hood disk. At this time, be sure to do up the two snap fasteners.
  • ③ Lift the upper conveyor. Adjust the clearance between the lower belt and the mouth frame to be about the thickness of a post card by lightly hitting the mouth frame with a plastic hammer.
  • ④ Open the hood disk, and securely tighten the nuts (c) and (d). Then, install the top conveyor cover (b).
  • ⑤ Close the hood disk. (Refer to 3.7.4)

8.9 Replacement of Disk (Plastic) Cutters for Strip/Rectangle Cutting and Sticking

(In the case of Plastic Sticking Knives Assembly) ※ For your safety, remember to use the attached protective gloves when handling the cutter assembly.

  • ①Turn over the disk and remove the nut, washer and countersunk screw. Then, replace the sticking knives assembly with a new one.
  • ②Put the disk face up and adjust the distance between the sticking knives assembly and the rectangular blade. Then, tighten the screws to hold the rectangular blade.  

!MPORTANT

  • The rectangular blade must not touch the sticking knives assembly.

8.10 Replacement of Disk (Metal) Cutter for Strip/Rectangle Cutting and Sticking

(In the case of Metallic Sticking Knives Assembly)

  • ① Turn over the disk and remove the nut, washer and countersunk screw. Then, remove the sticking knives assembly.
  • ② Remove the bolt, and disassemble the attachment. Then, replace the sticking knives with new ones.
  • ③Mount a new sticking knives    attachment on the disk, and adjust the blade height by lightly hitting the attachment with a plastic hammer. Then, securely screw up the attachment.
  • ④Put the disk face up and adjust the distance between the sticking knives assembly and the rectangular blade. Then, tighten the screws to hold the rectangular blade.

!MPORTANT

  • The rectangular blade must not touch the sticking knives assembly.
